How to Pick a Shopify Theme for Beauty Products

Picking a Shopify theme for beauty products is harder than it looks. Skincare, makeup and fragrance shoppers want ingredient lists, shades and proof of results, and most theme demos are built for clothing or homeware. This guide lists the features a beauty store needs, checks whether a free theme covers them, and compares free and paid options against the same criteria.
Disclosure: xotiny makes four of the themes compared below (Line, Redefine, Gentech and Wave). They are judged on the same criteria as the others, and each one has a "skip it if" line.
A theme controls how your product pages and collections look and what blocks you can add to them without code. For beauty products, check the Theme Store listing for these features:
You will not need all eight. Pick the three or four that matter for your catalogue and filter on those.
Often, yes. Two free themes on the Theme Store already list the most important beauty feature, an ingredients block.
Dawn (free) lists ingredients, usage information, color swatches, swatch filters, lookbooks and press coverage. Its listing does not include quick view, product tabs, a before/after slider, an age verifier or EU translations.
Ritual (free) adds quick view and EU translations on top of ingredients, usage information and swatches. Its listing does not include a before/after slider, an age verifier or product tabs.
One caution: both have a low share of positive reviews on the Theme Store (see their cards below). The case for them is their features and price, not merchant satisfaction, so test one with a real product before you build your store on it.
If none of the missing features matter to you and the theme works with your products, a free theme is a reasonable choice. You can move to a paid theme later, once you know which features your shoppers use.
The criteria: built for or styled for beauty, the features above as listed on each Theme Store page, price, and how many reviews the theme has. A theme with few reviews is not a bad theme, but you have less evidence from other merchants. Each theme's card below shows its current Theme Store price, rating and review count.
| Theme (preset) | Price | Ingredients | Before/after | Quick view | Age verifier | EU translations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dawn | Free | Yes | No | No | No | No |
| Ritual | Free | Yes | No | Yes | No | Yes |
| Be Yours | Paid | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Line (Line) | Paid | Yes | Unclear | Yes | No | Yes |
| Redefine (Scentella) | Paid | Yes | No | Yes | No | No |
| Gentech (Beautech) | Paid | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Wave (Peaches) | Paid | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
"No" means the feature is not listed on the theme's Theme Store page as of October 13, 2026; "Unclear" is explained in the theme's entry below. Paid themes are a one-time Theme Store purchase. A preset is a ready-made design inside a theme; buying the theme gives you all its presets.
Shopify's minimalist free theme, built to put product images first. Its share of positive Theme Store reviews is low.
Skip it if you need quick view, product tabs or a before/after slider.
A free theme with a luxury, designer-inspired look, plus quick view and EU translations.
Skip it if you want before/after images or product tabs without adding an app or custom code.
By RoarTheme

Its tagline is "Refined theme for skincare, fragrance & beauty brands", and it lists every feature in the table. It has by far the most merchant reviews of the themes here.
Skip it if the price is more than you want to spend before you have sales, or you prefer a less common design.
Line preset

A minimal theme whose tagline is "Minimal style with maximum impact for your beauty store". It lists ingredients, usage information, product tabs, size chart, press coverage, swatches and EU translations, and is the lowest-priced paid option here.
Before/after is unclear: the listing does not include a before/after slider, but the 2.0.0 changelog (July 22, 2026) names a section called "Before after". Open it in the theme editor if this matters to you.
Skip it if you need an age verifier; it is not on its listing.
Scentella preset

An image-led theme with lookbooks and image hotspots, so shoppers can tap products inside a styled photo. Suits fragrance and brands that sell on mood more than on specs.
Skip it if you need product tabs, a before/after slider or built-in EU translations.
Beautech preset

The preset's tagline is "Meet the next generation of beauty stores". It lists the full set in the table plus product tabs, lookbooks, trust badges and an FAQ page.
Skip it if you sell a small catalogue and will not use most of those features; you would be paying for them anyway.
Peaches preset

Peaches describes itself as "a clean, conversion-driven e-commerce theme for modern beauty brands". It lists a before/after slider, age verifier, product tabs, EU translations and right-to-left language support.
Skip it if you need a dedicated ingredients block; it is not on Wave's listing, so you would put ingredients in a tab or the description instead.
For salons and spas that also sell products

If you run a salon or spa and sell products on the side, look at Stylist, a paid theme whose tagline covers "beauty store and services". Its listing includes ingredients, a before/after slider, quick view, product tabs and EU translations. It is new, so check its review count on the card and try it with your own content before buying.
Skip it if you need online booking; no booking or appointment feature is on its listing, so you would add a booking app.
Shopify adds that you can only publish themes you have bought, and that support and updates for third-party themes come from the theme developer. Check who supports a theme before you choose it; for xotiny themes, that is xotiny theme support.
If you also sell jewelry, see our guide to Shopify jewelry themes.
Write down the three or four features your beauty products need, test a free theme with your own products, and pay when a paid theme covers features the free one does not. To see a beauty preset with your own products, try Line on the Shopify Theme Store.
